Children's Christmas Party
12/10/23 - Teamsters Local 776 Local 776 held their annual Children’s Christmas Party, sort of, as a “Drive-thru” on Saturday, December 9, 2023. Being cautious again this year it was not the joyful event we are accustomed to with the Union Hall filled with our kids, family, friends, and coworkers gathering throughout the day. |

If an employer fires a worker for trying to organize a union — which is illegal — it typically takes years to litigate the case. Even if the employer is found guilty, it will at most have to pay back wages and some other “make whole” compensation, not a financial penalty for the wrongdoing. So there’s little disincentive to violating the law. |

The contingent spent time walking the dock at both facilities talking with the Members; and making themselves available to answer any questions the Members may have about their contracts. Applications Available for James R Hoffa Academic or Vocational Scholarships

Scholarships range from $1,000 to $10,000 for academic awards and $500 to $2,000 for vocational awards. Eligible students must be high school seniors who are the sons, daughters, or financial dependents of Teamster members. The deadline for completing the application process is March 1, 2024. |
